The UMH Chair of Audiovisual Analysis and Foresight organises a conference on television reporting led by journalist Estefanía Parra Fuentes
The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) will host on Monday, 10 November, at 9:00 a.m., the conference “Television Reporting”, delivered by journalist Estefanía Parra Fuentes. The activity, organised by the Chair of Audiovisual Analysis and Foresight (CAPA UMH), will take place in Room 5 – Rosa María Calaf, located in the Atzavares building on the Elche campus.
The conference is aimed at students, professionals, and anyone interested in communication and audiovisual journalism. During the session, Estefanía Parra will share her professional experience in television news, addressing the role of the reporter as a key figure in news coverage—from planning and travelling to the scene, to conducting live broadcasts, sending audiovisual material, and coordinating with newsroom and editing teams. She will also offer a practical and realistic insight into day-to-day field work, showing how news coverage is structured, how sources are managed in urgent situations, and how news treatment evolves in an audiovisual environment shaped by immediacy and technology.
Estefanía Parra Fuentes holds a degree in Journalism from CEU Cardenal Herrera University and in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Alicante. She began her professional career in radio, at Onda Cero Elche and Radio Santa Pola, and later moved into television as a correspondent for the former Canal 9 in the Elche and Baix Vinalopó area. She has also worked at Información TV, where she developed programmes dedicated to local festivals and gastronomy, and collaborated in the sports field with Deportes Cuatro. For fourteen years she was part of the Alicante delegation of Informativos Telecinco (Mediaset España), and she is currently a journalist at the Atresmedia group, covering news for Antena 3 Noticias and La Sexta Noticias.
The event is especially aimed at students of the Double Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, as well as those enrolled in the UMH Degrees in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism. The initiative, coordinated by professor Jaime Quiles, is part of the Chair of Audiovisual Analysis and Foresight’s commitment to bringing real professional practice into the university classroom and fostering direct contact with active journalists and specialists.
