Celebration of the Alumni Event: 20 Years of Journalism at UMH

24 November 2025

On Saturday, 27 September, the Atzavares building once again became the meeting point for the UMH Journalism community to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the degree. More than 150 alumni from the 22 cohorts of the Bachelor’s and Undergraduate programs, as well as the Master’s in Innovation in Journalism and the Double Degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication, participated in a festive day of reunion.

The program began at 10:00 a.m. with a reception for attendees and a special Radio UMH broadcast titled “Two Decades of Journalism at UMH”. This was followed by a welcome from a dozen professors, marking an emotional start to the day.

One of the most anticipated moments came next: a coffee and photocall, allowing attendees to catch up, share memories, and reconnect with former classmates and faculty.

The morning concluded with a roundtable discussion, “The Future of Journalism”, in which five alumni with diverse professional backgrounds analyzed current challenges in the field, offering complementary perspectives from different areas of the industry.

The event ended with a group photo under the slogan “20 Years of Journalism at UMH”, symbolizing the shared journey of students, alumni, and faculty over two decades.

With this celebration, the UMH Journalism program reinforces its connection with all cohorts since 2005, consolidating an academic and professional community that continues to grow and look toward the future.
