The Ramon Barnils Group Announces the 11th Edition of the Barnils Award for Investigative Journalism

For the eleventh consecutive year, the Grup de Periodistes Ramon Barnils has launched the Barnils Award for Investigative Journalism, a prize aimed at recognizing and encouraging investigative journalism based on documented and verified information, with the goal of promoting reflection and analysis.

The award includes two categories:

  1. Works published in national media.

  2. Works published in local and regional media, addressing issues and problems affecting the Catalan Countries.

The submission period opened on 23 September and will close on 19 October at 11:59 p.m. Entries can be submitted in any format—print, digital, radio, audiovisual, or multimedia—and must be submitted online through the award’s website. Special consideration will be given to the variety and richness of journalistic investigation techniques employed.

Each award carries a prize of €1,500 and is open to both professional journalists and journalism students. Full rules and the submission form are available at: www.grupbarnils.cat/premibarnils.

The winners will be announced on 26 November during the traditional awards ceremony at Born CCM in Barcelona, where the names of the jury members will also be revealed.

The first edition of the award in 2014 revived and updated the prize of the same name, which had been presented by the weekly El Temps between 2001 and 2008 as part of the Premis Octubre in Valencia.
