“Towanda Rebels” commemorate March 8 at UMH with the screening of their documentary “It Is Still Time for Feminism.”

Miguel Hernández University (UMH) once again joins the celebrations of International Women’s Day with an event dedicated to reflection and feminist analysis. Next Monday, March 9, 2026, the Aula Magna of the Altabix building (Elche campus) will host the event “It Is Still Time for Feminism,” organized by the institution’s Equality Unit. Admission is free, subject to capacity.

The activity will begin at 10:00 a.m. with an opening session led by Rosario Carmona Paredes, Director of the Equality Unit, and Purificación Heras González, Deputy Vice-Rector for Equality and Diversity.

Screening and discussion with Zua Méndez and Teresa Lozano

The core of the event will be the screening of the documentary “It Is Still Time for Feminism,” a work that invites reflection on the current state of the movement. After the screening, at 11:45 a.m., a round table and discussion will take place featuring the participation of the film’s directors, screenwriters, and producers: Teresa Lozano and Zua Méndez, known for their project Towanda Rebels.

This discussion space will be moderated by Professor Juana Aznar Márquez, a member of the Research Group “Economy, Culture and Gender” (ECULGE) at UMH.

The event will conclude at 12:30 p.m. with closing remarks by Anastasia Téllez Infantes, Director of ECULGE and coordinator of the activity, and Jesús Mula Grau, Professor of Journalism.

This event is also supported by the ECULGE group and the First Vice Presidency and the Department of Social Services, Equality, and Housing of the Generalitat Valenciana.
