On March 24 and 25, the 10th International Conference on Journalism UMH, titled <\/span>\u201cInnovation in Journalism,\u201d<\/span><\/i> will take place in the Aula Magna of the Altabix Building. Organized by the Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University (UMH) \u2014 through the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Elche, the Department of Social and Human Sciences, and the Juan Gil-Albert Cultural Institute of Alicante \u2014 these conferences aim to explore the new media ecosystem and discuss innovative journalistic experiences. Entrepreneurial journalists and professionals involved in innovative projects will participate, and there will also be a debate on quality journalism as a form of public service, featuring Ana Pastor (<\/span>El Objetivo<\/span><\/i>, La Sexta) and Juanlu S\u00e1nchez (<\/span>eldiario.es<\/span><\/i>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The tenth-anniversary edition will host experts such as Eduardo Su\u00e1rez<\/a>, winner of the Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez Journalism Award, who will analyze <\/span>El Espa\u00f1ol<\/span><\/i><\/a>, the new newspaper founded by Pedro J. Ram\u00edrez, of which he is part of the core team. Daniele Grasso<\/a>, data journalist at <\/span>El Confidencial<\/span><\/i><\/a> and one of the Spanish investigators of the <\/span>Swiss Leaks<\/span><\/i><\/a> case, and Eva Belmonte<\/a> from the <\/span>Civio Foundation<\/span><\/i><\/a> will also share their experiences \u2014 both outlets ranking at the top of the <\/span>Journalistic Innovation Index<\/span><\/i><\/a> compiled by the UMH <\/span>Master\u2019s in Innovation in Journalism (MIP)<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The debate on innovation in journalism will also have an international perspective: Stephen Burgen (<\/span>The Guardian<\/i><\/strong> correspondent) and Andy Kaltenbrunner<\/a> (<\/span>Medienhaus Wien<\/i><\/strong>) will participate in a roundtable moderated by Matthew Bennett<\/a>, British journalist and founder of <\/span>The Spain Report<\/i><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the second day, participants will hear from young entrepreneurs such as Javier Coloma<\/a>, director of <\/span>Zakato<\/span><\/i><\/a>, and \u00c1lex Badia<\/a>, co-founder of <\/span>Barret Films<\/span><\/i><\/a>. Later, Eva Dom\u00ednguez<\/a>, professor at Pompeu Fabra University, will share her innovative experience with <\/span>El cuarto bit<\/span><\/i><\/a> (<\/span>La Vanguardia<\/span><\/i>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference will conclude with Juanlu S\u00e1nchez<\/a>, deputy director of <\/span>eldiario.es<\/span><\/i><\/a> and professor in the UMH Master\u2019s in Innovation in Journalism<\/a>, and Ana Pastor<\/a>, director of <\/span>El Objetivo<\/span><\/i><\/a> on <\/span>La Sexta<\/span><\/i>. Both journalists (with Ana Pastor participating live via videoconference) will hold a conversation about quality journalism<\/strong> as a public service.<\/span><\/p>\n

As every year, during the conference (Wednesday, March 25 at 12:30 p.m.) the 7th Ricardo Ortega Journalistic Report Award<\/a> will be presented. In addition, participants will be able to join the discussion on Twitter using the hashtag #jpumh, which in previous editions has even become a national trending topic.<\/span><\/p>\n
